Create a (S)VCD in TMPG

After having loaded the source file and set the properties of the input file press the load button.

Here you have to select the appropriate profile. Here's the selection matrix:

23.976fps: Select SuperVideoCD (NTSCFilm).mfc for SVCD or VideoCD (NTSCFilm).mfc for VCD.

23.976fps & NTSC -> PAL Conversion: Select SuperVideoCD (PAL).mcf for SVCD or VideoCD (PAL).mfc for VCD.

29.97fps: Select SuperVideoCD (NTSC).mfc for SVCD or VideoCD (NTSC).mfc for VCD.

25.00fps: Select SuperVideoCD (PAL).mcf for SVCD or VideoCD (PAL).mfc for VCD.

If you're doing the NTSC -> PAL conversion there's another thing you need to do right now. Press the Load button again, go into the Extra folder and select the unlock.mcf profile. Then you can change the Stream type in the bottom part of the main TMPG window to Video only as you already did the audio encoding.

When doing an SVCD also press Settings again:

Go to the Video tab:

Either select Automatic VBR (CQ VBR) where you can change the quality parameter (50 is good, more is better but don't go above 65 and keep in mind that better quality equals larger size) and the minimum (should be left at 0) and maximum (don't go higher than the default of 2520).

Or, you can go for 2 pass VBR encoding where you can set an average bitrate that is lower than the max bitrate (don't go over 2520) and a minimum bitrate (leave it at 0). I would set the average bitrate somewhere between 1500 and 2000 depending on your quality needs.

Then also go to the audio tab and change the bitrate to whatever you like within the SVCD specs (max bitrate 224kbit/s). Then press OK to get back to the main screen and press Start to start encoding.
