Go to the audio submenu, then to Dolby Digital and make sure Demux is selected.

After unzipping right click on vfipset.bat.

I can't load the DVD2AVI / TMPG / AviUtl project in the VFAPI converter

All these applications require their respective VFP plugin. If you downloaded AviUtl from my site you should already have its VFP plugin. DVD2AVI also comes with the VFP plugin (since beginning of January 01), and for TMPG the plugin is still separate. In every case the VFP plugin has to be copied into the same folder as the actual program and in case of TMPG after extracting you'll also have to run TMPGEncVFP_Install.bat.

Why does TMPG crash when loading my .d2v/.avi/vdr file?

In TMPG select Option - Environmental settings - VFAPI plug-in and decrease the priority of the dvd2avi reader below the rest and increase the priority of the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader to at least 0, or even higher if it still doesn't work. You can also try to increase the priority of the AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader.

Why is the output of the VFAPI converter unusable?

Most likely you haven't properly installed it. VFAPI is an AVI codec and has to be installed before it can be used. The VFAPI package comes with a file called vifpset.bat which you have to execute prior to using VFAPI. If that doesn't help most likely some of the AVI related registry items are messed up and you should download and run avifile.reg. Another issue is VirtualDub: If you have the AVI proxy turned on you'll have to turn it off again.
